PIER 1 IMPORTS TO OPEN NEW STORE IN SAN DIEGO, CA

FORT WORTH, Texas – Pier 1 Imports (NYSE: PIR) is pleased to announce the opening of its newest store in San Diego, CA. The new 12,000 square-foot store, now located at 878 Eastlake Parkway Suite 1110 in the Village Walk at Eastlake shopping center, opens August 10. *

“San Diego is a great market for Pier 1 and we are pleased to offer our customers an additional location to discover our exciting in-store experience and distinctive merchandise,” said Alex Smith, Pier 1 President and CEO. “We know that the citizens of San Diego care about their homes and home décor, and we are excited to continue to serve the San Diego community.”

Store manager, Brian Sharkey, who has been with the company for five years, will be the store manager and will hire approximately 12 full- and part-time associates. Currently, there are four Pier 1 locations in San Diego, CA.

Giving Back

Residents of San Diego can now help in the fight against breast cancer by picking up the 2007 Pier 1 Floral Blossom Filled Candle benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure at their new Pier 1 location. Available in August until supplies last, Pier 1 will donate 25% of the purchase price of the candle (less tax) to Komen for the Cure, which supports innovative breast cancer research and community outreach programs. Pier 1 has been a national partner with Komen since 1991 and has sold the candles benefiting Komen in its stores since 1997.
