Making A ListEvery year, you say you’re going to get organized. You’ll shop earlier, find the perfect gift for each person on your list, spend less, yadda yadda. But somehow time runs out and you find yourself a day late and a dollar short. Right? Well, dear gift-giver, get ready for some good news. With a little help from our handy planner, this year you’re going to make it all happen. No, seriously. Read on.

Making A List

Shopping ListStep Numero Uno – Make a list (hey, it works for Santa). Jot down the name of each person you plan to buy a gift for and the amount you’d like to spend. While you’re at it, check out our handy shopping list function at pier1.com. Just click on any item and select “add to shopping list.” Your gift list will be stored on our website, along with whatever notes you want to add about who it’s for, quantity, etc. Then, when you’re ready to shop, just print it out and drop by your nearest Pier 1 store. Easy peasy.

Step Two – Check it twice (again with the Santa thing). Gifts that require shipping should get first priority to allow for timely arrival. Want it delivered by December 25? Find U.S. Postal Service shipping and mailing deadlines here. Also, be sure and check with your carrier regarding domestic and international shipping regulations before sending food or alcoholic items. Laws can differ from state to state and country to country. Need labels? Download our free printable mailing labels here: Christmas Trees, Presents, Stockings, or Candy. (All labels use the Avery 5160 template.)

UNICEF CardsMaybe you’re traveling this holiday and plan to hand-deliver gifts all by your own spunky self. Good for you! If you’re flying, just keep in mind that TSA personnel may need to inspect your packages and may unwrap them. And don’t forget to check with your airline regarding baggage and carry-on restrictions.

Last Step: Make a greeting card list. Once you’ve got a name count, you’ll know how many cards and stamps to get. Try ordering the festive new holiday and Christmas postage stamps from www.usps.com. And to make your greetings even sweeter, consider sending colorful UNICEF cards and help save the lives of children around the world.
