This lamp arrived in a sturdy, well-secured box. I attached the legs, set the lamp upright, attached the lampshade and light bulb, plugged it in and turned it on. What a colossal disappointment. The shad was creased in numerous places - unable to see on the exterior with the light off but highly visible with the light on. The shade was packed in damaged condition - obviously. Unable to use it, I went to Target to purchase a shade for the lamp. The one sent by Pier 1 is now in the dumpster. Save your money. This was a sorry, sorry investment.

Unfortunately, we have yet to pull the tri-pod floor lamp from its box. After a relatively long wait for its arrival (post-holiday shipping), the large drum shade was heavily dented and broken--even though it was double-boxed and the box arrived undamaged--so we've left the rest in the box. I was disappointed to find that the only way to remediate the problem was to call an 800 number or submit an e-mail. An online return process, generating a pre-paid shipping label, would be much more convenient and efficient approach. However, the goal is to convince you to not seek a refund but accept a 125% online credit and that's best done person-to-person. And they want visual documentation (photos) of the damage. Fine. I got a friendly and responsive rep (Thanks, Omar!) who stuck with me through the process and had my e-gift card to me in a few days. Less helpful is the lack of an answer to my repeated question about what to do with the existing lamp--still boxed and sitting in my living room. I've received both personal and automated e-mails that seem to suggest this process is complete--including invitations to rate my "return" process and to submit this review (do you really want that on damaged product?!?). So I guess I'll let that box sit here a few more days before deciding it is now "forgotten" and decide what to do with half a lamp. Then I'll focus on spending my e-gift card and hope that item arrives in better shape.
