HOW TO DECORATE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE

 

We’re here to help you make decorating your tree more fun and foolproof than ever, with lots of tips and advice to keep your holiday spirit in maximum merry mode. Put on some festive music and get ready to rock, it’s Christmas tree time.

Step 1: PICK AND PREP YOUR TREE

Know what you want. Real or Artificial? Each tree is different, so to find the best option for you and your family, you need to match it to the needs and wants of your household—keep in mind pets, curious little kids, and how frequently you want to vacuum needles to help determine which tree is best for you Also, think through the placement and location within your home for your tree. Will it sit front and center in a window and if so, is there a nearby power outlet or do you need to purchase an extension cord. We also love the idea of having multiple trees (for maximum joy!) so consider a variety of locations. Our favorite idea is having a fun tree in a playroom that the kids can freely and independently decorate to express their own creativity!

Style. Determine the look and feel of your tree and think about the story you want it to tell for the season—will you go traditional with plaids or more glam with glitter? Whimsy or boho? Once you know this, determine your color scheme and let the search for ornaments and other trimmings begin!

Step 2: PLAY DRESS UP. ADD THE SKIRT 

Set the foundation for your tree with a stunning tree skirt that ties into the theme of your tree. 

STEP 3: GATHER THE DECORATIONS

Categorize and gather any fun lights and ornaments and divide them into categories: Size, color, theme, etc. Larger elements (including garlands) go first, tucked in among the branches. 

STEP 4: CARRY ON A TRADITION

Allow kids to add the first ornament as a special honor to be continued every year. Best if it’s extra-large and not too fragile, with a family significance you can share.

Progress Report: Take a time out for a tweak or two

Step back and check out your work in progress for balance and variety to ensure your design is bringing you all the Christmas feels.

STEP 5: ACCENT WITH GREENERY & FAMILY FAVORITES.

Empty Spaces? Fill in any open spaces with bows, picks, faux florals and smaller decorations. Keep adding until the tree’s branches look full.

Don't forget. Reserve some prime spots where you can place favorite ornaments,

STEP 6: GO OVER THE TOP

Top it off. Crown your tree with a decorative topper that fits your theme and draws all eyes up high for a top-to-bottom style statement all your own.

 

Now, sit back and admire your beautiful tree. It’s everything you envisioned and more, so savor this merry-and-bright moment. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, isn’t it?

IMPORTANT:  With limited exceptions, returns (i) are refunded to customer by store credit redeemable on pier1.com and (ii) customer is responsible for return shipping charges. 

Please know that we understand that choosing the right décor for your home/office can be a tedious process. We want you to feel confident in your purchase. This is why we are more than happy to assist you with finding the right choice. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll help you get there.

You can return most items for a store credit within 30 days of delivery. Unless noted below, outbound shipping charges are non-refundable and you will be responsible for all return shipping costs.

Clearance merchandise and any items marked “Final Sale” cannot be returned. Other nonreturnable merchandise includes clearance items, personalized items, bundled items at discount rates (e.g. “4 for $20”; unless the entire bundle is returned), items marked nonreturnable at the checkout or within the product description page, and products that have been assembled

If there is a mistake with your order, or items arrive defective/damages at the time of receipt, we will take care of it and work with you to find the best solution as further described below.

Returns/Exchanges

You can return most items for store credit redeemable on pier1.com within 30 days of delivery.  The following will apply:

  • Only outbound shipping charges for damaged orders will be refunded. All other shipping charges are non-refundable and will automatically be deducted from the refund credit amount.
  • Clearance merchandise, any items marked “Final Sale” or marked nonreturnable may not be returned/exchanged.
  • Returns/exchanges are not accepted on pillows, comforter sets, or other bedding products.
  • We reserve the right to refuse returns/exchanges of items that are not in as-new condition due to damage or misuse by the customer.
  • Each returned item must be in its original condition and packaging to be accepted.
  • We are not liable for any return packages that may become lost or stolen in transit. Please keep proof of postage and/or return tracking number when shipping back returns.
  • Refunds are generally issued within 5-7 business days after we have processed your return.

Defective Product and Returns due to Our Error

If there are mistakes with your order, or items arrive defective/damaged at the time of receipt, we’ll make it right by sending you replacement parts or accessories, replacing the item or issuing you a refund.  In such an event, there is no return shipping charges. 

Order Cancellations

Because your order is processed as quickly as possible, there is a 15 minute window for order cancellation during our normal business hours. Please call Customer Service at (888) 384-0700 immediately if you have placed an order in error. If the cancellation request occurs more than 15 minutes after the order is placed, or outside of our normal business hours, the order will be delivered, and must be processed as a return upon delivery.
